I've been talking to a few MVPs lately, and they said that people who were nominated by a MVP nomination would hear from Microsoft at the begining of February. Does anyone know if this is still happenening? Or has it been delayed or what? I'm looking forward to testing Vista :).

MVP Nominations
Hi Sean,
First off, MVPs aren't automatically Beta testers, and even though it is available with an MSDN subscription it may not be the latest build that has been released to Beta testers.
Second, the usual MVP award cycle begins in October, although a few MVPs are awarded in January, April, and July. For most people the first thing they know about their MVP award is a gift package that arrives at the beginning of that month.
As far as I know people who are nominated but not awarded never hear anything at all from Microsoft, and I'm sure no one will know that they are to be awarded in April before April 1 unless someone breaks their NDA (non-disclosure) agreement.
Finally, I don't think a public forum like this is the place to discuss whether one may or may not be awarded MVP status, although sometimes people are congratulated in public forums after their award status becomes known (by something in their signature, for example).

Sean, I'm assuming you're talking about a nomination to beta test Vista, so I'll go on that premise.
Nominations for the special group of beta testers have been closed. Those who are chosen will be notified pretty soon, I'm guessing.
There is a caveat here... Testers must be 18 years of age or older, since testing Vista requires a binding NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) contract.

I think if there were any costs to incur, it was generally for postage of the media the software was being shipped on. With faster internet speeds now, it will probably be a downloadable iso. And once a public release is available, I don't think there will be anything to stop Sean downloading it (if he doesn't get nominated this time round).

Incorrect, people between the ages of 16-18 can have a parent/guardian sign a consent form. Under 16 is the cutoff age.

The cost I saw was nominal, at least. But a cost anyway. And it would be good if there were a public download site, but can you imagine what a hit the Microsoft servers would take!?
Shhhhhhhhhh, Scott. I didn't want to say his name out loud. Besides, I don't think there'll be an age limit for the public beta; at least there shouldn't be, because it would be absolutely impossible to enforce.
